Help 156 Intermittent indicator problem

Ok so I have read plenty about this issue on the forums already but no one seems to have a conclusive answer.

My indicators don't work at all most of the time. I mean there is no lights inside or outside the car and no 'ticking'. So I am thinking relay. I have located what I think is the relay (under the steering column, blue relay) but I can't get the dam thing out.

So basically does anyone know, conclusively, how to replace this relay and if this will indeed fix the issue?

It should just pull out. I removed mine the other day, and whilst it was stiff, it did come out eventually.Don't think there is anything else in there holding it in place other than the connectors.

Well Happy

Cheers guys,

Took a bit of force but I got the dam thing out. (There is also a wee clip an the top that needed to be moved)

I managed to get a screwdriver under it a force it out however I thought I was busting something as there seemed to be liquid coming from somewhere. When I got the relay out this (oily) liquid was all around one of the connectors... that would be why it wasn't working then. The relay itself looks pretty busted to be honest (looks like someone has opened it maybe) and I can't ascertain if the liquid is coming from it or from the steering rack (though there doesn't look like anywhere for the grease around the steering to leak through).

Anyway, im off to a breakers to get a relay for this now.

Is your car a facelift?? I have same problem but the garage want me to source the indicator, since I need them to take off steering wheel I have no way of knowing what type of relay to buy, if yours is a facelift what relay did it require?
