Electric Windows

Could be a dopey question !!

...but today after parking the car, turning the engine off and removing the keys from the ignition....i noticed that i could still operate the electric windows.

It's only when i opened the door that the power to the windows stopped.

Is this normal,if so,for what benefit...or is it just another of those cuddly little Italian foibles that bond us with our beloved Alfa ?

I'll say it quietly but my old Volvo 480 turbo had that feature, too, and even more quietly so does my wifes' Rover 220sdi!!!!So I guess it isn't an italian foible! It is quite handy, cos you can sit in the car,ie whilst waiting for a teenage daughter, and without turning on the ignition, open or close the window.in an attempt to hurry them up(usually futile!)should you need to!

you have somthing like 30 seconds to close the windows after you turn the engine off, I think it's a safety for children so they could not operate the windows while you are away from the car
it's written in the manual ... a lot of, let's say, "interesting" behaviours can be explained by checking the manual ... another one is the fact that the air recirculation kicks in when you put the fan to 0.
