In my experience, the best all round tyre for wet and dry is the Continental Premium Contact, the aysemetric tread being better in the dry than the Eagle F1.
If you want a good budget tyre, the Vredstein Sportrack takes some beating. Certainly better than a P6000!
For a performace tyre, for those on 45 profile 17's etc, in the dry go for Firestone SZ50, but not too sure on the best mixed climate tyre yet.
Not too sure on some of the tyre pressures being quoted here!! After all, a 147 is only 1300Kg odd... For example, my Focus (simillar weight) ran 33psi all round with 195/55/15's, cornered like a bas***d and wore the tyres evenly.
