Got exactly the same problems with the steering wheel buttons: the coat started to peel when the car was just 1 year old: Happy Birthday
This is utterly shocking issue:
Working in the Automotive industry; I am responsible for plastic components development; I can tell that any car components are supposed to pass a very strick Validation campaign (including UV testing, adhesion testing before and after scratch, climate testing, rgermo-shock testing, impact testing, etc..).
So why are this stupid buttons failing so quickly?
The response is clear, they have been poorly manufactured!!
One likely answet is that the rubber material of the button was not cured (degreased) correctly before the application of the paint coat.
All in all at the source, Alfa should ensure a more robust control of its supplier manufacturing processes...
...And at the end, Alfa should not reject any claims when customers want this type of issue to be repaired free of charge, even after Warranty expiration because it is definitely not normal wear and tear.
