So.... After all of the trials and tribulations that I've had with my 156 and after getting it all sorted out it's thrown yet another curved ball at me after nearly a whole 2 months of problem free driving.
This time it's a wierd problem with the battery/charging system.
I've had no issues with the electrics at all since I had the engine loom replaced and after the great indicator debarcle but now it's decided to confuse the hell out of me. Here's the story...
Get in the car every morning and every evening when I finish work and she'll start on the button every single time, no hesitation and everything nice and bright and loud. I came out of work this afternoon and the battery was dead, turned the key and the starter motor turned over once and then just clicked when I tried again,
one of the guys that I work with gave me a jump start and it fired up okay and drove okay on the 10 mile journey home, when I got home I turned it off and then tried to restart it and the same thing, the starter motor struggled to turn over and then died, I got my jump pack out and started it up and then drove it for a mile or so, got back home and tried again and this time it started fine,
put a multi-meter across the battery terminals and it was reading 14.3 volts, went and got a cuppa and then got in it to go to Asda and it was dead again, out with the jumper pack again and drove it to the local tyre/exhaust/battery place who put a test meter on it and simulated load with it, they told me that the battery is fine... Drove to Asda and when I came out I barely got it started before the battery died again. I've just driven it home and parked it on the drive. The alternator is charging the battery at 14v, the drive belt hasn't snapped, as far as I can see there's no loose wires or terminals and there's nothing electrical running when the ignition is off.
The only thing that I can think of is that there's a deal cell in the battery, but seeing as how everything was hunky dory until today could that have caused the problem in such a short time?
Anyone else got any idea's?
