Hi all ....... I'm looking for some help and advise.
I've got a 2006 GT V6 with failed head gasket (sticky junk in coolant tank).
The car is running fine (temp at 90) and no signs of water in the sump/dipstick.
I'm pretty much due for cambelt change (just turned 50k) and need to know if this is a realistic DIY job or not.. Don't laugh
I've made an enquiry and it's looking like a £1200-£1300 job with cambelt's, head(s) skim etc and I'm absolutely skint! (failed boiler, new garage door and holiday all just paid for).
I've done car DIY for the past 15 year's (wishbones, ECU stuff etc) but never cambelts or top end engine. I think I've got tools (toque wrench, good sockets, spanners, WD-40
I've seen EB spares hire the cam-locks and sell all the bits so I think I could do it but need the advise of you guys.
If it's a 'no go' it looks like I'm gonna have to park-it and wait till I can afford it.
Please help. The thought of sharing a work journey in the wife's car scares me almost as much as when I spotted the junk in the coolant
