156 alarm persistently sounding after battery re-charge
Can anyone shed some light/insight/make suggestions on my 156 sounding it's alarm constantly please? It's very ummm loud and furrowing the brows of my neighbours!
It's a 2003 156 2.0 JTS. The car has been having a sabbatical and sat unused for about 3 months during which time I fitted a new radiator. The battery had gone flat, re-connecting the battery again after charging gives a beep sound straight away, then another beep sound maybe 20 or so seconds later. No alarm at this point.
Need to say that the key fob has no battery, the retaining clip has long since broken - but the car has always functioned fine operating the door with the key.
Ok back to the 'fun'. Unlocking the car now sets off the alarm, disconnecting the battery shuts it up. Tried re-connecting tha battery with the doors unlocked and the driver's door open - no alarm initially, put the key in the ignition and turn it - alarm goes off. The engine will start though with the alarm sounding.
I've looked around the forum and seen mention of removing fuse 12 - which is my next move. Problem - car came without a handbook, so I've no idea which fuse is number 12!!
Frustrating - I've located the fuse box behind the panel under the dash adjacent to the driver's door, but there is no numbering sequence that I can see.
Can someone/anyone shed some light please? I'm very keen to get my Alfa back on the road - been too long! Any suggestions/advice/insights gratefully received.
