The Worst Possible conclusion to my turbo change. PLEASE help me.
So a some of you may know i had turbo failure on my car recently.
I sourced a very good condition 2nd hand unit and replaced it sparing no time or effort. I cleaned everything out properly, used new fitters, new oil new filter and i even changed the intercooler as i thought there MIGHt be some metal in there from the previous failure.
I primed the turbo properly, and cranked the engine for 4 x 30 secs intervals to pressurise oil before starting.
Sounded good and apart from a couple of oil dribbles which were sorted it ran beautifully. That was 3 days ago.
Today i was back under the car checking for a small oil drip and i had to remove the filter to turbo hose for access.
To my horror i found that the compressor blades had somehow been minced up and had pieces missing from every blade. The car still runs nicley but has a noticable whistle on spool up.
WHAT the hell do i do now? I dont have any money left!!
How long can i drive the car with the compressor wheel damage?
How much would it cost for a proper replacement at an indepedant alfa specialist?
What the hell could have happened? I checked for foreign objects and was very careful??
Any help much appreciated , this could be the end of my VERY Short Alfa owndership....
