No,that was my impression but after i drove it i dont think that it handles better than the alfa 156 v6,The alfa feels more grippy maybe because it's sorted with eibach+Koni fsd.I guess that my gf 147 1.6 ts is even more grippy aswell than the type r.I think a 156 v6 2.5 with eibach+koni fsd +same wheels handles better than a stock gta.Maybe its just my 2c
Had one of these new FN2 2008 type R's in the other week for MOT and brake service. It passed the MOT but I have to say, not impressed with the handling, far too hard and far too nervous on uneven road surfaces. It doesn't inspire confidence at all.... Too twichy at speed too.
The older EP3 type R was a little better IMO but still not great
Mind you.... I have never liked the idea of Vtec's... Its somewhat embarrasing having to flog the death out of an engine in order to get anywhere quickly! "oh here it comes, it's there oh no it's gone again"
It just pricks the attention of the local traffic cops as they automatically presume you are "giving it large" when all you are trying to do is keeping the rev range in balance to offset the lack of torque!
I much prefer to waft at 3000 ish rpm doing 70+ and they don't bat an eyelid!
It surprises me that a marque like Honda can get it all so right on the CRX vtec GEN 2 in the mid 80's yet progressively get worse over the years with newer models
I suppose in years to come , they will make brilliant track cars... but thats where they belong IMO, just not on UK roads for everyday use.
That's the best thing about my work... I have yet to feel "I wish I owned that car to go home in"
instead of driving Alfy home every day
