Sportwagon Squeaks and Rattles Cured
Major success this week in eliminating squeaks and rattles from my Sportwagon, here are the causes and cures I've found:
- Rubbery squeak from front left when cold - upper left wishbone, silenced for now with spray grease but I'll have to replace it before long
- Low frequency rattles at certain road speeds - the clips holding the black trim on the tailgate of all things! I've just done away with them, I'll take a chance on the eight remaining bolts holding it in place
- Dry metallic squeak from rear right over bumps - door latch, greased
That just leaves an intermittent high frequency rattle in the roof that would need the headlining removing to get at, doubt I'll get round to that.
The satisfaction of such an improvement in refinement for relatively little effort is immense
