156 keeps cutting out
Hope someone can help me out with some advice. W reg 156 2L was acting up over the last 4 months. No power after 3.5k revs. Having researched on the forum, I suspected the maf and had to hold out till some funds from "the management" was coming free. Then it cut out 3 times on me, fortunately not in an inconvenient place. All three times was at low revs, coming to a stop, when the motor just suddenly died and ignition would just turn over when trying to restart. After 3-4 hours however it would start up no problem. I associated this with the maf condition worsening so managed to negotiate some funds from "the management" and replaced the maf and air filter. I am by no means mechanically minded and researched this on the forum beforehand so I knew what I had to do. Did an ECU reset afterwards, battery off 45 mins, then idle for 15 mins, then off for 10 mins, then took it for a thrash. WOW, performance increase seriously noticable!!! HOWEVER, it still cuts out when coming to a stop - had to stick it into neutral, keep the revs up and brake to get home. Having checked the forum out I'm suspecting the crank sensor. Any ideas greatfully appreciated. Is it something I might be able to do or would it be a garage job?
