I have recently noticed (how could I not - I nearly drowned!) a leak directly into my passenger footwell. The water appears to be coming (rather gushing) from the blower in the footwell but it only comes out when I'm going round a right hand bend! This suggests to me that there is a reservoir of water somewhere in the heating/air con system which is forced to the passenger side when I go round sharp corners etc.
I have looked at the water coming out and it does not seem to be coolant so that would rule out the heater matrix. I took the car to a garage and we looked at all the drains and pipes and they all flowed freely (we checked by pouring plent of water down the windscreen!). However I have only recently started to notice the problem now that it has begun raining.
We conclued that water must be getting into the heater/aircon through the air intake (under the wipers) but the filter was bone dry and all the channels around it seemed to be working. We tested this by pouring plenty water down the windscreen again and it all flowed away fine (the filter stayed dry).
I am now TOTALLY confused as to how the water could be getting into the heater!!!!
One radical other suggestion that was made was that there might be a drain for the condensation from the AC which was blocked and this was filling up inside the system. I run my AC all the time - is this possible? I don't have a clue if there even is a drain from inside the car which could block up .......
Please can someone help as I'm beginning to get worried my carpets will begin to rot soon, and I'm reluctant to take it to a dealer for them only to tell me what I know already and find no obvious solution, but still charge me handsomely for the priviledge!!
