Yesterday when I was driving home, I was overtaking a BMW, fortunately, he gave up! When I shiftet from 4 to 5 at 6000 RPM It went to neutral instead....****.... first time I was led down by selespeed.
Iīm driving a 1999 156 selespeed, has had the car for a year, driven 30000 km with only one small selespeed problem, twice I have had to work the City button wire connection under the gear lever, to make it shift gears again, bad connection, has thought about a tinjoin instead.
The car has done 200000 km all together, and I drive it very hard on windy roads every day.
I found out that it was missing fluid in the hydraulics reservoir, topped it up, with Tutela CS, and the selespeed was with me again.
Another brand of fluid was used when I got the car!! so that was what I was topping up on
But apparently it has startet eating or spilling fluid, as it has kept the same level since i purchased the car and put a new (only 5000 km) engine in it, until now!
I checked for leakage, and the only places I could find a lilttle moist was on and around the lid, on the side of the shifting mechanism facing the front left wheel, and maybe a little more moisty on the rear buttom just above the inner CV joint for the left wheel.
I feel that the clonks from the shifts has gotten a bit stronger and louder during the past 2000 km.
Went to work this morning, no problems, drove it hard as always. But when I was going to back it up on the parkinglot it wouldīt go in reverse, took the wire connection for the city button, as done twice before, and put it together again, to make it shift again and it did but the black lead on the carside was loose in the connection.
But when I was going home this afternoon, I got selespeed warning light and beep and it would only make me change to second gear, it was missing oil again.
Then i found out that the speedo, cooling temp, tankmeter and backlights wasnīt working...hmm
Went home 25 km in second gear at 6500 to keep up with traffic, and found a thread that pointed me in the dirction of ABS fuse!
Right..... the ABS fuse had blown, popped a new one in and now flying again, has done 50 km now and it hasnīt blown.
Any thoughts about these findings/problems????
