It all depends on where you buy the MAF from... Some NON BOSCH items are good , some are bad, some don't even work at all out of the box!
My own personal experience is to:
Have a mate or member who is local to you and swap MAFS to see if : Your problem rectifies and or the problem shows on his car with your MAF
Visit a local breakers and purchase a known used MAF that is good, Try it for a few weeks... Then buy a quality new MAF from a reputable source like the many Indy's that advertise on here... At least you will still have a spare for test and evaluation in the future.
Try cleaning the throttle body and butterfly with carb cleaner too to eliminate other possibilities.
If it has worked for a week then gone back to running rough, I would be looking at the airbox and pipe work for leaks and splits after the airfilter and before the MAF... Is the air filter housing sealing properly against the top of the filter itself?
Contamination of the element inside the MAF doesn't take much.
There is always an original cause to a symptom.... Treat the cause first and the symptom will treat itself!
