147 Motor control system failure

I have replaced my accelerator pedal as advised by Green Flag, this was due to my car going into limp mode which means it would not go above second gear. When I replaced my pedal this cleared the fault on my dash board and the car drove OK after a couple of days it came up again MCF. and my car would not go above second gear I have unplugged the accelerator plug for a couple of minutes and re plugged it and this cleared the fault for a couple of days but then did it AGAIN !!! does anyone have any ideas - Thanks x

not a mechanic but would have thought if ecu has picked a fault up they would need clearing on a diagnostic after the repair but i maybe wrong (wouldnt do no harm though?)
