i fitted a new crank shaft sensor the other day its been running fine done a 100 miles since today i was just pulling in up into a car park and the engine stalled in first gear this is the first time i have stalled the car thought it was impossible the engine mangement light came on but the car started straight away and no more problems on the way home 30 miles i just read the fault code and it reads PO725 Engine Speed input Circuit Malfunction are they realted and is it serious
i have cleard the code now
I would say they're related. The crank sensor is used to gauge engine speed.
Without it, the ECU would have to rely on the cam sensor and I don't think that would be enough to run the car properly....certainly not on the V6 engine anyway, that's only sends a signal once every two revolutions. Don't know about other alfa engines.
If they're the same then it would have to be a momentary blip. Check the cable isn't trapped, or touching the exhaust or something. Clean the connections too maybe?
