156 Starting issues
So i'm approx 6 weeks into owning my 156 and so far I have to say it's been fab, fantastic to drive, gorgeous to look at and so far niggle free - until tonight.
Jumped in the car to tootle a few miles down the road to pick my step son up, car started fine. Pulled up, switched the engine off and locked the doors with the key fob. I was out of the car for maybe 2 minutes and when I came to start it all I got was a quite loud electrical buzzing sound from behind the dash, the speedo needle was bouncing backwards and forwards and then the alarm went off.
Got out of the car, locked it with the remote then unlocked it which stopped the alarm, tried to start it again and got the same buzzing sound, the same mad speedo and a loud tapping sound outside the car near the front (I'm assuming this was the starter solenoid). After keeping the key turned in the igniton for a few seconds the starter did turn (it did sound sluggish however) and the engine started, I then noticed that the time, date and trip had all reset themselves.
I've been out since I got back and tried starting it a few times and it seems fine so I'm hoping this was just a one off although i'd like to know what actually happened so if anything needs replacing I can get on and do it.
