Brakes squeeling savagely...amongst other things
Hi, bought my GTA just over a month ago. It had been standing for quite a while by the looks of it and feel of it, but it was quite a good price (I think!).
I had the cambelt and waterpump done and also had to have a new oil cooler, and new radiator. I also think I need a new top mount, but it doesnt seem desperate, so I'll get that soonish. Worse, is the horrendous squeeling, screetching constant scream form my brakes when braking. I'm hoping I can describe the behaviour, and someone can narrow down what part of the brakes is the culprit, and whether I can fix cheaply, or I need new brakes.
They are generally silent for the first part of the journey. They seem to get 99% worse as they warm up. They were deglazed by local machanic, but...who knows.
There is a small creak from the brake pedal - not sure if it's related.
Quite often at the start of the journey, I can hear a rubbing, vibration sort of feel/noise....wheel speed related noise, which I think is the brakes rubbing slightly..It's fairly subtle though, not like most people describe on here where it squeals the whole time they drive.
Not sure if this is two different issues..or if they are related. I have the big brakes, calipers look quite faded and worn.
But anyway, back to the squeeling / screetching under braking - If I brake heavily, it doesnt do it. It's only when your tickling the brakes...in traffic etc. Also, when coming to a junction, brake heavily its fine, then as you decrease pressure to ease into the junction, that's when it kicks off...so, to summarise...light pressure...when they are warmed up. Thoughts?! Welcome any wisdom.
