Dolly Sprints are cool cars - FACT!
Listen, others have said it, but I'm in agreement - stick with it. I have a 2004 facelift SW 1.8 with 90k miles - it's worth approximately 3 caramacs (on a good day) in terms of trade in
Instead, I've cut down my miles as far as I can, started doing some home servicing (brakes, oil, filters etc and the odd fix - replace stat, wiper motor etc.). I'll happily trawl on here and elsewhere on the web for hours to get a cheaper part (always OE standard though) or oil etc. I'm closer to my car now, enjoy driving it more (when I do). The only bugbears for me are the chipped paintwork (like that when I bought it) and the miles (higher than I would have preferred).
No matter, I'm wedded to it for a while yet - having quietly determined that I don't need anything else. I see people piling into brand new motors and I don't get it.....I drive hire cars (with work) every other week, and when I get back into my 7 yr old 156 I just think.........."that's better!" It's always the steering......the driving position and the steering. Spot on.
If I have a hankering it's that my oily fingers in recent months has sparked an interest. I'm now a bit moribund because nowt needs doing really. That brings me back to Dolly Sprints and the like
