Re: first mod done...second on its way
Was more than happy with the v6 style pipe on my old TS, and added an autodelta performance filter (available from the alfa owner shop), as folks have said not a huge difference, but noticable (smoother takeup slightly lower in the range), goes well with a re-map.
I've fitted the filter to the GTA, as it uses the same stock part as the 1.8 used to as an air filter. I suppose that says something for the stock part if it can be used on a 3.2 it's probably sufficient for a 4 pot (although for the price of the autodelta filter it's probably worth it).
I would never fit an open induction kit in any car both from the filtration issues (oil based & screwing up the MAF) and from a heat point of view. The best Induction kit's I've seen always have a direct air channel from outside striaght onto the enclosed filter , which is effectively what the v6 inlet mod gives you. Coupled with a performance filter (watch out for the oil on this) gives you all of the gain and with very little work.
Your bella - she looks lovely, I can see mine from here and am thinking - must wash ... must wash... but it's going to throw it down in a minute - so I thnk I'll leave it.
