156 running woes

Was travelling home the other night and noticed that the car was running a bit rough??
It was shortly after I set off home from work, car had been stood outside all day (work hours) and it had been bucketing it down!!!
It was running fine until I got to around 1800 revs (40mphish) and then it was as if something was holding it back (misfiring etc.), but then as soon as you went faster (and slower) it went away????

I did have it service and a new coil pack put on #2 as advised, I was just wondering if it needs another on #3 (I think I remember him saying something about this at the time).

Oh and yes the MCSF message flashed up and stayed on for about a day then stopped comimg on.

Any help please!!!
