MAF Problem - Anything Else Possible

Hi, have a Alfa 156 1.8 2002 which I believe has a duff MAF (Bosch) thats less than 1 yr old.

Main sympton is car doesn't like pulling away, or accelerating when first putting foot down, but once down it goes fine.

The car works fine when MAF disconnected. Checked wires back to ECU and there doesn't seem to be any breaks. Got a second hand MAF which was even worse, when took foot off accelerator it took ages for revs to come down, this didn't happen when MAF disconnected.

It throws up MAF error code on ECU.

Could it be anything else? I'm going to take the MAF back as apparantly Bosch guarantee them for 1 year, but want to make sure that I'm not missing anything else.

I've done ECU reset with battery disconnected overnight, reconnect, ign on 90 sec, off 90 sec, start and idle 5 to 10 minute, take for a spin.

Any replies much appreciated as this car is driving me bonkers!!!!!!
