My Alfa Romeo GT 1.9jtd on Friday developed a problem with power over 2k revs and the engine warning light has come on :-(
I was driving in some very heavy rain up here in sunny Scotland lol!
And that was the end of the power.
It done the same thing a couple of weeks ago after a service and when i picked up my car it was totally stuffed so I took it straight back to the garage and they had it another day and supposedly redone the service and gave the MAF a clean and it was all ok.
After a week or 2 of driving it again I was starting to see some hesitance from it in 3rd gear but not all the time.
Today I disconnected the MAF sensor to see if things improved which they did slightly but not to the degree i was expecting.(p.s thanks to the authors on this site for the known issues)
Now im in the situation where do I buy a new MAF or a new VGT solenoid or both just to make sure its fixed.
Oh forgot to say when car was in for service the mechanic also advised he had to stick back on one of the pipes coming from the VGT solenoid :-(
I only hope its not the VGT regulation mechanism inside the Turbo charger.(tested moving this and it seems to move easily enough thank god)
Anyone any other ideas from what I have just explained the reason I ask is with it doing it when it was raining or do you think its just coinsidence?
After the nonsense at the garage with the service bit warey of taking it back just to get plugged in even although it would make sense to get this done.(Mind you if I could get the cable i would probably prefer to do it myself.
Any links to the cheapest parts would be greatly apreciated.
