156 cooling fan dramas !

Hi all,

My alfa 156 recently had a burst radiator which has just been fixed whilst this was damaged it was leaking coolant so I topped that up.

Since then the radiator fan doesn't seem to be working. Is it likely that the fan whilst trying to compensate for the burst radiator shorted out?

Had a quick look at this thread :

but I'm a bit inexperienced with this and don't have an ohm meter to hand !

Current situation :

Fan does not turn on at all.
Coolant level is fine (if not a little over)
coolant heats up in its main tank.
AC works fine but the radiator fan does not turn on at any point.

Is this likely to be a fuze blowing? I'm selling the car soon and need to sort the problem out before I sell it on.

thanks all,

Current model - 156 GTA with the alfatune treatment

It could be the resistor block which is mounted in the fan shroud - on the nearside (left) of the car - has two spade terminal connectors going to it. The resistor often sorrodes. Its easy to swap - only held in with two screws. If you're anywhere near me - my unit is in Waterfoot, Rossendale - give me a shout and I'll see if I can help.
