ive got a 156 2.5 v6, and even that cant keep up with an M3
i know because ive had one, i had an E46 M3 SMG for 3 years, i paid 27k for it and sold it for 11k with 65k on the clock.
the beemer is great to drive but im affraid its just dull, the interior is bland, and theres only so much fun you can have with road speed limits.
there is no doubt that the M3 is fast, infact its very fast, its also the worlds best selling performance coupe.
but on the road it just doesnt turn heads, its just a wide 3 series with a big engine.
the new M3 is also no faster than the previous model, driven it.
i now drive a Mazda RX8, and its probably the best car ive ever owned. the drive is excellent, its got loads of power, and it looks superb, and it turns heads.
its not as fast as the beemer by a long shot, but its not all about sprinting between the lights. On track my Mazda will keep up with M3's all day long, and shows up MANY big exspensive cars. Clarkson did say that the RX8 is the best handling coupe for under 100k! thats got to be worth something.
i still love my alfa though pace is quite good even for a 13 year old car, it can still keep up with most things, it still looks great, and the engine noise is amazing.
i think its about time alfa brought back some of that old power we seen in the V6's, as lets face it current engines are a little on the slow side. I drove the top end brerra, and god it suprised me how slow, and unbalanced the handling felt.
