Extreme Tyre Wear

I've had my 147 2.0 TS a good few months but only use it as a weekend run about.
When I bought it, the tyre wear on the inner front tyres was terrible, they were almost bald, considering the rest of the tread looked almost new.
What should I be asking for when I take it to get fixed? Is it tracking, alignment etc. Do I need to take it anywhere for specialist 4-wheel alignment as I keep seeing this phrase crop up on the site.
Wheels are Alfa 17" alloys and the car hasn't been lowered.
Sorry if this sounds a bit dumb. I just dont want to waste 40 on tracking if there's something else that should have been done.

The car need tracking correctly. Get it 4 wheel alligned or you'll probably find it crabs along teh road and wears still

The "usual" suspects for me would be: Upper or lower arms (bushes and balljoints). Track rod ends. Top mounts COULD be shot. And of course tracking, but all the bits need to be right before having the tracking set of course...

my 2.4 20v ATE tyres when I bought it. Just got 18k out of the last set of fronts (Firestone TZ300a) which for me is a record by quite some way. It's had new EVERYTHING in the suspension
