Re: CD ripper
I've got the MP3PRO codec stuff to bolt onto nero 6 for the home hifi setup, not the mostintuitive interface (used to use and still prefer the UI forSteinbeg MyMP3 software). MP3PRO however on the home system is like chalk and cheese, even the missus can tell on a A/B listen there is just so much more definition (for the same disk space use), and backwards compatible too.
The freebie musicmatch used to be hobbled both in ripping speed and quality, it also wasn't that user friendly (I'm talking 2 years ago).
I've got about 10GB ripped with the steinberg software on the MStation in the GTA, doing a few new CD's with Nero MP3PRO as I type. want a few new tunes to put n the MP3 stick before my work train trip to Basingstoke this week.
I don't believe in High speed burning of CD's - they ain't going to be played like that and CDtransports grenerally are poor these days (it's a testamony to the format that it is so reliable), even with my TDK vortex I wont burn over 12x for data and 4x for audio.
