Sorted the rattle!
Had a crap day at work, so decided to take the challenge of sorting the gear stick rattle.
Took the gear stick surround off by undoing the 5 hex bolts, unclipping the pads to the side and removing the 3 hex screws under the pads and the one screw holding the ash tray mechanism in.
Undo the clip and the velcro at the rubber gaiter and remove the whole unit.
In the end I realised I didn't need to do all this! Taking a pair of grips I wrapped the gear knob in a rag and just gripped and twisted! The top half of the knob came off, you can see the top of this in picture one.
The knob is made of 3 parts, the lower is glued to the actual stick, the ring sits ontop and the final part is the top with the geasr written on it.
Holding the top part to the bottom are 3 hex screws, seemingly just resting there. I snapped the screws out of the lower section as they were clearly vibrating under load.
Cleaned the sections up, and simply super glued them back together. Good as new.
No rattles, no vibrations. Nice.
