thanks for the replies guys.
LOKNAR - I will try and find an independent, but I'm a bit wary. I don't have a clue about car mechanics and engines (I just love to drive them!
) and I've been ripped off so many times since I became part of the Alfisti community that it's really hard for me to trust any mechanics these days... Other than the shaking I get when I accelerate above 70mph (120km/h) there seems to be nothing else wrong. No noises, no trouble launching, even from 3rd gear!
SHUG - Thanks mate. I'll check them out!
JOSS - the gear change is fine, smooth as ever. The car has only 46.000 miles, although it is a 2004 register. I bought it last year from a guy who had only done 34.000 miles in 6 years and always kept the car in his garage. I like to drive very fast on motorways (+120mph - yes, we don't have that many speed cameras over here yet!
) but I drive quite smoothly, ie, no abrupt breaking or acceleration, specially when the engine is cold and no forced or 'scratching' gear changes. But the guys at the Alfa dealer took the car out for testing and said it was the transmission tripods. I really wouldn't know 'cause, as I mentioned to Loknar, I'm not the most savvy person when it comes to how cars work... Anyway, I will try to get an independent to have a look and see how much they're willing to charge, just to be sure.
