If the same issue can be caused by two different Shell garages, 60 miles apart and using their VPower Diesel then I would say that I have suffered the same issue as described by you.
Given the above, I must say that I am a tad cynical with the garage providing that diagnosis to you. I have read posts on this forum to suggest that there are turbo hoses to and from the VGT solenoid that may be worn. Unfortunately, I have not been able to check because I am a complete noob when it comes to looking in the engine bay for such a part - I cleaned my EGR, lubed the shaft into gearbox etc but there are clear guides on how to do these items - i need a pic of the engine bay, clearly outlining where to look.
I am not saying that the garage is CATEGORICALLY wrong but I don't think the issue has manifested itself in mine for a while - I want to check just to be sure.
Just take the hit for a bit and use some premium fuel to see how the car behaves but I would recommend checking the hoses out first, it's not gonna cost anything - and if you know where they are, please put up a pic clearly outlining where to look so I can also stop worrying!!!!!
