Lower Ah means less storage capacity so without being charged by the alternator it will discharge quicker if the car is left unused for a period of time (due to the residual current drain by security devices etc.) Not harmful but less desireable as there is more chance of a flat battery if the car is left unused.
The battery is a storage device similar to a water tank in your house so the capacity is the size.
Size or capacity as in amount of water it can hold in gallons rather than Ampere-hours.
The Cold Cranking Amps is similar to the size or diameter of the pipe that is supplied from the water tank - so a larger CCA is like a tank with a larger exit pipe and it can deliver more water in a certain time or a battery more amps over short periods or when using the starter.
