jtdm 16v 150bhp maf - Leaden pig?
sorry if this is long and rambling & full of questions but I have been trawling through the site for days.....
I have an ongoing problem with lack of power & a slight "roughness" to power delivery complemented by poor mpg (currently 32mpg but has been in the 20's, even on a 1500 mile trip to Scotland with the car set at 70mph on cruise it was only 38-40mpg).
I've had the car about a year & it's never felt truly willing until last week when the turbo to intercooler pipe failed, bought a Samco one from Alfaworkshop & hey presto car flies - so I thought must have had a small leak for ages - one week later and car is back to its old ways, no MCSF, no particular flatspot, just lacking smoothness and the reviness I had last week....
6 months ago I removed EGR and cleaned thoroughly (as per instructions here) - no difference. Have tried to check VNT solenoid pipes for cracks but I can't find it, the solenoid that is - this is the pipe from wastegate? This pipe, which is blue silicon, seems to go to something adjacent to airbox -by feeling around.
I guess next thing is to disconnect MAF, I think I can feel the plug but can't see to disconnect it.
Can you guys/girls think of anything else?
Can you buy the MAF sensor only or is it the whole unit on this model - seem to remember reading that this one is a sealed unit? Can you get a replacement from a Vauxhall cheaper?
car is 2007 model LHD - so layout may be different! about 65k miles, fully serviced, cambelt changed at 55k.
Thankyou for your time & patience all advice very gratefully received - I want her to fly like last week or she will resume her former name of "the leaden pig" which is not right for an Alfa!
