my partner bought herself an 03 147 1.6 4dr last year and was given the usual dodgy car dealer flannel regarding the fact that the MFD (multi function display) wasn't working. He blamed it on disconnecting the battery to carry out some 'servicing', none of which was actually carried out at all.
This leaves her with no display on the panel and although it is faintly lit from behind, the screen stays blank. The car does beep warnings etc but you can't tell what they're for!
Is this an easy fix, bulb issues or something only an Alfa tech can solve?
BTW the car shows 43000 miles on the odometer but when a local garage plugged in to check for fault codes (of which there were many) the mileage came back as being 72000+. This also correlates with a series of numbers written on the manifold, presumably by a previous mechanic. If I had gone with her when she viewed the car, we'd have walked away pretty quickly and looked elsewhere but hey, lesson learned.
I have a suspicion that the non-functioning MFD and the obvious disparity with the mileage might be related. If anyone has any useful information as to how to solve the MFD issue then i'd be hugely grateful, it'd be great to fix my other half's car for her (and hopefully save a large amount of money doing it myself).
