156 1.8TS pressure from oil filler cap

Hi guys, I've just returned to the alfa forums having been driving other marques for a couple of years.
Today I bought a '02 156 1.8 TS. Just noticed when I open the oil filler cap with the engine on, there is quite a lot of pressure rising with some oil spitting out......just wondering if this is the norm....I'm not very mechanically minded!

Thanks in advance ,

It depends how much pressure is there, you will sometimes get a bit of oil spraying out but there shouldn't be alot of pressure.

Take the cap of any running engine and oil will spit out, as for a bit of pressure i wouldn't worry, its normal.

Totally normal - don't worry about it. Try putting your hand over the hole, there is quite a lot of pressure, its almost impossible to keep it there.
