Im getting the hang of the Alfa way now, having spent a week solid in all weathers finding my way around the V6.
When i got the car it was way down on power but idle was good, but was sluggish through the revs (auto box).
I did some scouting around the engine bay and found that the flexible hose on the throttle body was split in a big way, but underneath so could be seen from above.
i found a brand new hose but it was £90+VAT!!!
So i replaced the hose with a standard bit of samco hosing.
Hey presto after an ECU reset the power came back in bucket loads, but was short lived.
The car is now back to slugglish and has developed a slightly rough idle.
Im guessing that the car has now relearned but fear that the MAF is screwed and this is now causing issues, the car revs through the full range but is slow and surges after 5k, but still doesnt pull as brisk as it should.
Also since ive fitted the new hose, ive taken the oil breather which used to be connected to the flexible section and vented it to atmosphere? is this wrong and would it cause the issues?
The exhaust is also vibrating quite bad which it wasnt doing before.
Is it possible the short increase in the cars power was enough to blow the exhaust if was weak? and would this cause the new loss in power and lumpy idle?
sorry for the long post, but this site is really helping me.
