Alfadiag connection failure, now car won't start - damaged ecu?
So I bought my copy of Alfadiag and the recommended usb lead, tried to connect to the ecu of my 156 2.0 JTS and failed to get a connection. I've sent the error report to Derek for any advice he might have.
However, after failing to get a connection my car doesn't even attempt to start, and is doing a really good impersonation of a car with a flat battery. Aircon numbers are dim, as are the lcd panels, speedo warning lights are the correct brightness. I'm also getting a strange spinning of the speedo needle when I try to start. Starter moter doesn't attempt to spin or even click.
My question is am I likely to have damaged the ecu when I was trying to connect to it, or is it possible to corrupt it? I've disconnected the battery to see if I can clear the problem that way.
There is the possibility that it simply has a flat battery, but I ran the engine last night and it was fine, so it's gone really flat really quickly.
If I have damaged the ecu then I'll suck it up and get it replaced, but I can't see how I would have. Any advice much appreciated.
