All the above is unfortunately sad but true!
I've kept my 156 V6 in excellent condition but when we were looking around for a new car for my other half recently, we went to a Vauxhall dealership to have a look at a 3 door Astra sport...
We rolled up in the Alfa and the salesman, hungry for the sale, had already worked out part-ex values, etc. not knowing that I wasn't chopping in the Alfa!
When this was pointed out, he breathed a sigh of relief... He said he was embarrassed to let me know what the Alfa was worth to them... that being... "nothing"!
Given it's condition, it would be worth a fair bit more for it's parts, he said!
On top of the current economic situation, as well as the usual " nobody wants large, gas guzzling cars any more" type comments, I can only see the value of these cars decreasing even further (that's if they can decrease lower than "nothing"!
) with only the likes of a mint GTA commanding a premium.
I'm more than happy to keep mine going for as long as possible, It's only really used as my 'weekend play-thing' now, but I'm dreading the day when it will no longer be feasible to keep it on the road!
I guess it won't be long before we see more of the V6's being broken up, just because the expensive cam belt service is due (if it isn't happening already!)
