Help Brakes & Suspensions replacement

Well, I've been happily driving my 156 for the last 5 years and I now clocked up just over 100k miles.

I need to keep it going for another year (at least) due to other financial commitments (house extension and fa,ily car repayment).

I know for sure that front brakes discs + pads needs to be replaced (again) and I was quoted about 100 incl. labour for plain discs & pads manufactured by Brembo ..... Sounds to good to be true !

As anyone good/bad experience of these discs and pads ? Are they any better than the Alfa ones ?

I don't feel like splashing on Ferodo pads and some uprated discs (although I'd like to) as I suspect that I'll very soon have to replace shocks, springs and other suspension components.

This is leading to the 2nd question.

I've seen EB spares advertising their own suspension kit developped and manufactured jointly with Eibach/Bilstein.

Any good ?
Any good value for money ?

Help required please as I don't want to end up with a 4 digits bill

Re: Brakes & Suspensions replacement

The EB spares kit is 490+vat +p&p for the shocks, then you need the springs, then the bushes......

So that's 4 figures blown straight away.

Sorry.....

I keep looking at suspension upgrades but they all seem too chuffing expensive. If someone can point me towards a small improvement at sensible money I would grab at it. I just can't bring myself to fork out that much cash on my car!

CHF, The EB Spares dampers will work fine with your Sportpack springs.
100inc labour for new front discs & pads does sound far too good to be true...

Re: Brakes & Suspensions replacement

Is EB spares' bilstein kit compatible for 147s as well? (with OEM springs..)?

After 100,000 miles do you not think the springs may be a little bit on the tired side? I would be thinking of replacing them at this mileage.

I talked to Jason at EB spares yesterday and although he agree with me that at 100k miles (mostly motorway) shocks should be changed he told me that springs should still be fine and should not be replaced if I'm happy with the height ...

The car will be 7 years old at the end of this year.

Any other opinion is welcome !
