I picked up a recon head on ebay the other week for £70 delivered. I admit that was quite lucky though!

When my belt went I got it rebuilt, I knew the engine, it now runs a treat, 6 months on. Just over £800

Expect several bent valves, possibly cracked valve guides, and the possibility that the big-end shells have been squished so really should be changed.

On a 2.0 TS you have a balance belt as well as cambelt and aux belt plus assorted idlers and tensioners, all of which should be changed, and you'll need the cylinder head gasket and seals for the cam-cover. Then there's the camlock kit to hold the cams in place ...

I'd probably still have a go ...

he says heading for the garage to start replacing the cam belt on a 206CC 2.0 DOHC! Replacing due to age, not because it failed!

cheers, Gary
