Alfa owner at last BUT...!
Allow me to compliment the webmaster and members of the forum for the excellent site! It has proved invaluable to me as a new Alfa owner and our local Alfa "experts/mechanics".
I have recently bought my first Alfa, a second hand red 156 TS 2.0 (yr 2000) in excellent condition with 30,000km.
I must admit that I have to get used to the pampering and patience an Alfa owner must master. I have had mainly Japanese cars which only required the usual service and very little else.
New ball game! After just a few days of getting the 156 the idling was all over the place fluctuating from 800 to 1500, for a few times then settle to 900 ot thereabouts. The car is also hesitant in low revs making driving in traffic highly uncomfortable. This gets worse with the aircon on. You won't get far in a car here in Malta in summer without an aircon!!
Followed the advice in the various threads in the forum -
1) Cleaned butterfly valve.
2) Had ECU reset at Alfa dealer
3) Throttle reset procedure.
The people at the local Alfa dealer told me that they will change the idle actuator and everything will be ok.
Does that sound encouraging...? My enthusiam for the RED one is fading...
