engine temp

Hi all

just wonderin if anyone can throw any light on on how long it should take for a 2.5 v6 engine to get to normal op . temp ,e.g. 90oC .

mine seems to take for ages ( about 15 / 20 mins and around 9 / 10 miles journey doing town driving in fairly busy traffic ) but it does get to 90oC and stays there , eventually .

is this too long ?

some say theirs only only takes 5 - 8 mins at the most whilst driving normally .

i think its affecting my fuel consumption caus im not getting much more than about 20 to the gallon at the moment , and thinks its running too long on rich fuel mixture .

could it be my thermostat / radiator or something else i could check ?

anyl replies appreciated . thanks .

probably a new thermostat is required - a bad radiator or waterpump would cause overheating
