Hi and a few questions from a new owner
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, just let me know?
After much deliberation I decided I was going to get rid of my XJ8 and definitely buy a low mileage 166 3.0 but then the day before going to buy it I found locally my first Alfa, a 156 TS 1998 and just couldn't resist it.
Been looking for a while and couldn't bring myself to get rid of my old car but just fell in love with this the second I saw it. Definitely a case of my heart ruling my head!
It's very high mileage and no real history and quite non standard but seems to have been really well maintained and is spotless everywhere I could check and started and drove beautifully. Quite surprised at how 'tight' and solid and quiet it all felt. The suspensions looks original but don't see how it can be at that mileage and the bodywork looks as new.
I can see I need to find out somehow about the cambelt, either contacting the old owners or just biting the bullet but what else should I be looking for?
I prefer to do most mechanical stuff my self but understand there's a pretty good independent in Leicester anyway.
