Shelf life of a timing belt?

As topic, how long before it's not recommended to use?

Alfaless :( BMW!

TS belt recommended change at 3 years, I would guess parts from manufacture, stock to supply can be given a year!?

Depends how long you want to run it for - if you wznt the full scheduled life then I would say no if part manufqctured over 1 year ago. Just my opinion though!

i've often wondered this, although its fair to say the belt wont degrade s fast on the shelf as it will on the car, as its not under tension. I've heard many times very few belt failures are due to the actual belt, usually the tensioner or idlers.

The belts are not packaged with a sell by date so i think its anyones guess but i suspect its many years rather than 12 months. If you buy a belt for a 155 i doubt it was manufacturer recently .
