Re: Oil Help
m3ckon - I would have thought the first thing you need to do is get an Owner's Manual.
That's a book that tells you all about the car and includes details about which fluids to pour into which holes and when.
It will tell you that Alfa recommends Selenia 20K for the 1.6l Twin Spark engine in your car. Selenia 20K is a semi-synthetic oil rated at 10W40. Alfa recommends Selenia Racing (fully synthetic 10W60) only for "decidely sportive use" in the TS engines.
m3ckon - are you being "decidedly sportive"?
If not, don't bother with the fully synthetic oil. Change the oil every six months and, either check it more often, or try and find out why the engine was so dry. If you needed to put that much oil in, it's a miracle the engine is still in one piece.
By the way, if you stick around this forum, you'll find out that some people swear by fully synthetic oil, full stop. Mobil 1 is high quality oil but it's probably not the right oil for your engine. It's certainly better than nothing, however, which is where you came in...
PS I used Selenia just as an example and because it's the brand Alfa recommend. Any *reputable* brand of the correct rating will be fine.
Get ready for the Saturday night...
