Hmmm 2003 Alfa romeo 147 selepseed problems

while driving a 2003 alfa romeo 147 (3 door coupe selespeed 2.0ts)

-small oil leak (transmission)
-fault light on dash (selespeed transmission failure warning light) http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/1989/stfv.jpg

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

car dis-engages gear (aka. selects neutral) when accelerating from first to second in (city mode) and when slowing down into first. It feels like it misses a gear (as if i was driving a manual and missed 2nd gear)

when it doesnt "miss the gear" it takes a long time to select the gear, say you were in a manual or normal automatic it might take 1 second to select the next gear. this alfa takes about 2.5-3 seconds and looses a sufficient amout of acceleration between gear changes.

any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Time for a clutch rod adjust and a recalibration
