Variator repair kit advice

Hey my variator is rattiling its head off and i am wondering has anyone ever repaired one with the genuine oem repair kit with much sucess?, its a lot cheaper than a new one!.
Also my drivers and passeger door sides (the black bit above the handle if you know what i mean) have peeled off this weekend to reveal rust underneath, what is this actual black stuff its like a textured paint or vinyl, does anyone know the best way to fix or were to get the paint or vinyl? cheers for any replys in advance..

Don't bother, just spend the money now and buy a new variator is my best advice.

Yes get a new variator. Repair kits dont last very long, a new one is the only way to fix the problem, and it'll last till the next change.

You can buy that vinyl sticker from a dealer, and put it on yourself.
