Driving to work this morning (3.5 miles city driving) after 3 miles I go to pull away as traffic moves and engine stalls with 'low oil pressure warning' flashing up.
Manage to re-start car and drive remaining 500 yards to work with 'motor system failure go to dealer' on display.
Check oil and water both fine. There was no noise, smoke or loss of power at any time.
The mechanic in the garage next to my work place suggested disconnecting the battery to see if the fault would disappear, so I did the ECU reset procedure as described in this forum.
Hey presto - 'check ok' . Drove for about 30 miles, mixed driving absolutely fine.
After work, coming home stalled again (this time no warning on display) and would not re-start, and this was at the top of the ramp up to the M4 in Chiswick
Waited 40 mins for AA, he tried to start her again successfully but with 'motor system failure' message again. Plugged in his computer and read the fault code for cam sensor.
Decided to drive home with AA escort just in case and book garage in the morning.
A mile down the road, stalls again with 'low oil pressure' warning flash.
Nice Mr AA tows me home, puts a 'DO NOT START' sticker on steering wheel and advises me to call AA tomorrow when I've booked into a garage.
Is it likely/ possible that this is dodgy sensor(s)/ECU/wiring?
Or have I damaged my engine? At no point did anything sound or smell bad, no smoke, oil and water both fine, no overheating.
Any thoughts or advice much appreciated.
