Fiatecuscan now what?

I've purchased ecu scan with a lead for my 52 plate 156 2.0 JTS Sele just so i can keep an eye on things. I havent soldered any pins together as yet but i have plugged it in and connected it to the car(eventually) but to be honest i have no idea of what the results mean. is there a guide to tell me what i should be looking for. There were a couple of fault codes which i cleared but cars seems to run perfectly althoughh the engine warning light is on and won't seem to go away even with shell optimax.

Engine light is on - did you write down the codes before you cleared them from the memory?

Specify the error codes or description! If the engine light is on there is probably an active fault. Search that error in the forum threads, it probably was discussed before. If not you can ask us here.

For engine ECU you don't need any cable modifications.

If you cleared the fault codes and all seems fine... then the engine light should go out after a few start ups... if you get a fault code again soon then log the code and find out whats causing the problem.
