So, taking my misses for her second scan at the hospital and in the car park, the car STALLS across a zebra crossing in 2nd gear... Dash starts shouting 'SELESPEED SYSTEM FAILURE'!
Read one or two posts from people with similair issues but most appear to be able to get theirs back into 'N' after some time, mine however is stuck in 2nd and even the morning after it wont pop into 'N'.
When the AA turned up (and fair play, they were a good bunch, van first then flat bed), the guy had a sniff and stated it smelt like some metal got extremely hot... I feel the smell was more towards electrical than hot metal but that would open to individual opinion I suppose.
Anyway, to try and cut a long story short, the pump seems to whine fine upon opening door andI've had no 'low pressure' warnings of any sort. May be worth adding that when I open the drivers door, the car now beeps at me four times which has never happened before?!
Also, upon turnig the key with lid up, sevral high pitch 'squeaks' are heard from what I can only assume are solenoids of some sort that rest between battery and engine.
Other possible relevant symptons could be; earlier in the day (and the only time I've ever heard it), there seemed to be a dull noise coming from the engine. Also, on occassions, there seemed to be a fan belt squeak and I think this may be just that (but it may not be
). The other is the juddering that other peeps have stated upon pulling off, but this only occured two or three times over the past 3 days.
What I'm really interested in is what the actuator/ accumulator does so to help me troubleshoot more effectively. Worst case scenario, second hand gear box and a hard days work (or two) on the road side!
The dullest thing of all is, the car breaking down where and when it did resulted in me missing the scan (and I'm really really gutted about that), but i STILL like it - dull as a brush
Any words of wisdom is hugely appreciated in advance....
