Epic paintwork problem!
I have owned my Alfa GT Blackline for just over 6 months, and apart from the apparently obligatory MCSF warning it has been great! Unfortunately, the bubble has burst big time as after a longish drive I saw a huge area of paintwork has peeled off the roof of my car above the windscreen down to the factory primer (approc 15cm by 5 cm) . On closer inspection the rear passenger side has an area of approx 15cm by 10cm that has bubbled away, has no adhesion and is a matter time before this cracks and comes away too.
I bought send hand from a reputable dealer (although they specialise in Mazda) about 7 months ago for good money, its an 07 plate with 35k on the clock.
I have taken it to an Alfa dealer in Bristol, who said it was as the result of a bad previous respray probably as a result of an accident. I also took it to an independant body shop who said it wasn't a respray but a manufacture fault where water has got under the seals and delaminated the paint.
Obviously the 3 yr paint warrenty is gone, and its not covered by my dealers 12 month warrenty! So I'm looking at a very expensive respray or a car with no paint, which doesn't really suit the GTs good looks.
Does anyone have any advice or experience of this fault - could I pursue ARUK with any luck, or should I try the dealer under SOG laws?? I'm getting married in August and there is no way I can afford a respray.....
